PRINCE2

PRINCE2 project management software that scaffolds the method for you

Choose the United Kingdom as the delivery country and PRINCE2 as the method, and Planmoor sets up the project the way a PRINCE2 practitioner would: stages with end stage assessments, a Project Initiation Documentation to sign, highlight reports on a cadence, and an end project report to close.

14-day free Pro trial, no card needed. Clients are always free.

What Planmoor creates for a PRINCE2 project

  • Stages, not phases. Starting up, initiating, delivery stages and closing, each ending with a gate named for what it is: an end stage assessment.
  • The management products. A PID, a statement of work aligned to it, a risk register, a RACI and an end project report, drafted from the brief and listed as documents that need a signature.
  • The Project Board meetings. Authorise the project, end stage assessments and a fortnightly highlight report review, all with calendar invites.
  • Work packages with dependencies on a Gantt with the critical path, and milestones such as “PID approved” that cannot close until the PID is signed.

PID and scope, signed before stage 1 starts

The PID is the project's contract. Planmoor drafts it from the brief, lists it as client-visible and marks it as requiring signature. The Project Board signs it from a link; the signed PDF, timestamp, IP and content hash attach to the milestone. Until that happens, the “authorise the project” gate stays open and the first delivery stage is visibly blocked. That is the method, enforced by the tool rather than by a reminder email.

Highlight reports without the Friday scramble

A highlight report in Planmoor is assembled from what already happened: progress against the stage plan, milestones hit and missed, tolerances, risks and issues from the RAID log, change requests raised and signed, and the plan for the next period. Add a paragraph of narrative, publish it to the client portal or send it as a PDF, and the review meeting already has an agenda. See status reports.

Change control that moves the plan

Raise a request for change with the schedule and cost delta. It appears on the portal as pending, the Project Board signs it, and the affected tasks shift with the critical path and baseline recalculated. Exceptions become an issue in the RAID log with an owner and a date. Nothing is agreed in a meeting and forgotten in a spreadsheet.

Running the method, day to day

  1. 1

    Write the brief

Objectives, the business case in a paragraph, dates, budget and tolerance. Set the delivery country to the United Kingdom.
  2. 2

    Get the stage plan

Planmoor scaffolds the stages, gates, products, meetings and risks, with a Gantt and the critical path. Edit anything.
  3. 3

    Authorise and deliver

The Project Board signs the PID. Work packages run, time is logged, highlight reports go out every fortnight.
  4. 4

    Assess each stage

At each end stage assessment the next stage plan is approved and signed. Progress against baseline is on the report.
  5. 5

Close with an end project report

Performance against the PID, acceptance of the products and follow-on actions, signed by the Project Board.

Built for UK delivery

With the workspace set to the United Kingdom, Planmoor applies the professional bodies, standards and contract norms you would expect: PRINCE2 and the APM Body of Knowledge first, UK GDPR noted in the scope of work, working days that follow the UK calendar, and dates and currency formatted the way your client expects. The same project can be switched to PMBOK or AgilePM if a client prefers it; every methodology works everywhere.

PRINCE2 is available on every plan, including Free. Pro adds unlimited signatures, baselines and variance, and the full report library. See pricing, or read how Planmoor works for consultants and agencies.

Questions people ask

Is Planmoor an accredited PRINCE2 product?
No. PRINCE2 is a registered trademark of PeopleCert, and Planmoor is not affiliated with or endorsed by them. Planmoor applies the method's structure, stages, gates, products and reports, to real projects; it does not provide training or certification.
Can I tailor the method?
Yes. Tailoring is part of PRINCE2. Rename or remove stages, drop documents you do not need, change the highlight report cadence and save the result as a custom template for next time.
Does the client have to understand PRINCE2?
No. The client portal shows a timeline, milestones, meetings and documents to sign in plain language. The method shapes what you produce; it does not have to be visible to the client.
Can I use PRINCE2 with agile delivery?
Yes. Choose PRINCE2 for governance and run the delivery stages as sprints. Tasks carry a sprint number, the board shows the sprint, and the stage still ends with an end stage assessment.
