An Asana alternative for agencies and consultants with clients to sign off

Asana is a very good tool for internal teams. It is less good when the person who has to approve the scope, follow the plan and accept the milestone is a client who will never log in. Planmoor is built for that person, with a Gantt and critical path on every plan, a portal without logins and e-signatures bound to milestones.

14-day free Pro trial, no card needed. Clients are always free.

Where Planmoor is the better fit

  • A real Gantt from the first plan. Critical path is on Free in Planmoor; in Asana it arrives on Advanced at $24.99 a user.
  • Clients get a link, not a login. Asana guests are free but must create an account and learn Asana. The Planmoor portal shows the timeline, milestones, meetings and documents to sign, and nothing else.
  • Sign-off is native. Scope, change requests, acceptance and UAT certificates are signed online, with the plan reacting to each signature. Asana has no e-signatures.
  • Methodology, not just templates. Asana has no PRINCE2 mode; Planmoor scaffolds stages, a PID and highlight reports when you pick it.
  • AI without credits. The planner that drafts phases, tasks, risks and a scope of work is included on paid plans.

Where Asana is the better fit

Asana's strength is breadth across a whole company: goals, portfolios, forms, a large app catalogue and a free plan for up to ten users that many internal teams never outgrow. If your work is internal, cross-functional and does not involve a client approving anything, Asana may be all you need. Planmoor does not try to be a company-wide work graph.

What switching looks like

In Asana, open the project menu and choose Export, then CSV. In Planmoor, choose Import a project and upload the file. Sections become phases, subtasks nest, dependencies and assignees come across, and completed tasks are marked done. The Asana import guide walks through it.

Switch in one step

Export your Asana project, upload the file, and Planmoor rebuilds it as phases, tasks, dependencies, people and dates. Coming off a paid tool? Your first three months of Agency are free.

Pricing, side by side

Planmoor Pro is $9 a seat a month on annual billing with unlimited projects, signatures and AI planning; Agency is $19. Asana, as of October 2026: Starter at $10.99 and Advanced at $24.99 a user a month on annual billing, with critical path, workload and time tracking on Advanced. See the pricing page.

Questions people ask

What comes across from Asana?
Sections become phases, tasks keep their dates, assignees and completion, subtasks nest under their parent via the Parent task column, and Blocked By dependencies become finish-to-start links.
Is Asana better for anything?
Yes. For a large internal organisation running goals, portfolios and hundreds of cross-functional projects, Asana's breadth and integration catalogue are hard to match. Planmoor is narrower on purpose: client projects with a plan, a portal and sign-off.
Do I lose Asana's free guests?
No. Planmoor clients are free and unlimited too, and they do not need to log in at all.
