Switch from Jira
Move a project from Jira to Planmoor
Export the issues as CSV, upload them, and Planmoor turns epics into phases and issues into tasks with assignees, dates, status and sprint. Useful when the engineering team stays in Jira but the client project needs a plan, a portal and sign-off.
14-day free Pro trial, no card needed. Clients are always free.
Four steps
- 1
Export the issues from Jira
Open Issues, filter to the project (or the epics you want), then choose Export and CSV (all fields). All fields keeps the parent, sprint and status category columns. - 2
Open Import a project in Planmoor
Sign in, choose Import a project from the dashboard, and upload the CSV. Planmoor recognises Jira's column names. - 3
Check the preview
See the phases (from epics), stories and tasks as tasks, sub-tasks nested, and which assignees match people in your workspace. - 4
Create the project
Name the project, set the client and dates, choose whether issues in the Done category are marked done, and create it.
How Jira maps to Planmoor
- Epics become phases
- Stories, tasks and bugs become tasks with start and due dates where present, and done when resolved
- Sub-tasks nest under their parent issue
- Status category (To Do, In Progress, Done) maps to Planmoor status
- Labels and non-standard issue types become tags
- The Sprint column is kept as a sprint number
- Assignees are matched by email; unmatched ones can be invited in one click
After the import
Jira issues rarely carry start dates, so the first job is to drag bars on the Gantt into a schedule and add the dependencies that matter. Then mark the releases as milestones with acceptance criteria, send the client portal link, and set up UAT so the client signs a certificate when testing passes.

Questions people ask
- What happens to sprints?
- The sprint number is kept on each task, so you can group the board by sprint. Planmoor's PRINCE2 and agile templates let you run stages as sprints if you want that structure going forward.
- Do epics have to become phases?
- No. You can switch that off in the import options and have everything import as a flat list of tasks, then group them on the Gantt.
- Will bugs and stories be distinguished?
- Issue types other than story and task are kept as tags, and labels come across as tags too.
