Four steps
- 1
Export the project from Asana
Open the project, click the project name menu, choose Export / Print, then CSV. Asana emails or downloads a .csv file. - 2
Open Import a project in Planmoor
Sign in, choose Import a project from the dashboard, and upload the CSV. Planmoor recognises Asana's columns automatically. - 3
Check the preview
See the phases (from sections), tasks, subtasks, dependencies and which assignees match people in your workspace. - 4
Create the project
Name the project, set the client and dates, choose whether completed tasks are marked done, and create it. The Gantt and client portal are ready immediately.
How Asana fields map to Planmoor
- Sections become phases on the Gantt
- Tasks keep their name, start and due dates, assignee and completion
- Parent task nests subtasks under their parent
- Blocked By (Dependencies) becomes finish-to-start dependencies
- Tags come across as tags
- Assignees are matched by email; unmatched ones can be invited in one click
After the import
The critical path is calculated as soon as the project exists. Send the client portal link, draft the scope of work for signature, and save a baseline once the dates are agreed. Read the full Asana comparison if you are still deciding.
Switch in one step

Questions people ask
- Do subtasks and dependencies come across?
- Yes. The Parent task column nests subtasks and Blocked By (Dependencies) becomes finish-to-start links.
- What about comments and attachments?
- Asana's CSV export does not include them, so they do not come across. Keep the Asana project read-only for reference if you need the history.
- Can I import several Asana projects?
- Yes. Each CSV becomes one Planmoor project. Run the importer once per project.
